MegaMan, Golf, Billiards Added to WiiWare, VC

I know, I know, this is a day late and right now, I’m a dollar short. My main development PC died on me but a new power supply is on the way for that. Poor power supply gave all she had for 7 years until one of her cooling fans gave out on her yesterday morning. It’s ok, I have this backup laptop from the 1990’s I’m using that allows me to still do updates. Just a day late it seems, eh? OK, ON WITH THE NEWS!

Aug. 18, 2008 - Fans of ’80s platforming action have something to shout about this week-namely, the Virtual Console? debut of a true classic: Mega Man?. Meanwhile, players with a passion for sinking the perfect shot can rule the table with a new WiiWare? pool title or conquer the links in a challenging, globetrotting golf game.

H.o.t.D.: Overkill - Trailer

Sega is coming out with a new House of the Dead game for the Wii and it’s definitely got some style judging by the trailer below. It seems to be a throwback to the 60’s and 70’s era horror movie style with the “Grindhouse” theme going on. Check out the trailer below, it kicks ass:

Nerf N-Strike Footage

Nerf N-Strike looks like a perfect game for our near 2 year old as it’s slow paced and very non-violent to the point of being almost “cute” despite the fact you’re shooting robots in a very Doom 3-esque looking space environment. Of course, you’re shooting them with a Nerf gun that launches rubber bullets, but these robots HATE rubber bullets! So much so they will explode in a flash of blue light if one touches them. It’s a slow, on-rails shooter, it’s Nerf, and the video is right here:

As a bonus, here’s a shot from IGN showing off the light gun attachment for the game:

More Ports from Capcom Coming for the Wii

In this post over at the Capcom-Unity.com forums, Christian Svensson (who is the Corporate Officer/VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development) answered a few questions, one of which mentions a few hit Capcom titles that are not on the Wii. Yet. “Sven” had some interesting answers including this one:

Original Post: Capcom, I’m really pissed right now. I want to play these games, but you give us Wii owners the shaft. No RE5 Wii, possibly no Dead Rising 2, no Lost Planet, no Flock, no Age of Booty, No Street Fighter 4, no Devil May Cry, no Dark Void.

We are contemplating versions of one or two of the CEI titles you’ve mentioned on the Wii (not saying which), but we’d like to see how they do on their initial target systems before doubling down on additional SKUs.

If I was a betting man, I would say DMC and RE5. Any thoughts?

Overlord:Dark Legend Coming to the Wii

According to this IGN article, the PC/360/PS3 game known as Overlord will be coming to the Nintendo Wii with a few changes and enhancements. In Overlord, you control a group of minions and use them to carry out your deeds as you progress through the game. The Wii motion controls be used in some cool ways when it comes to this.

Here’s a bit more on the Dark Legend version coming for the Wii:

Dark Legend will feature an original tongue-in-cheek storyline penned by award-winning games author Rhianna Pratchett, and is set to include a host of old and new franchise-favorite characters, including Halflings, trolls, elves and dwarves, as well as new wicked witches, gingerbread men, and Lil’ Red Riding Hood, “the seeming sweet girl with a very personal lupine secret.”

The Overlord franchise sparked to life on Xbox 360 in 2007 and immediately drew comparisons to Nintendo’s own Pikmin because the main character, although very different from Captain Olimar, controlled his squad of minions around the world very similarly to the way Olimar did the Pikmin. Players used the second analog stick to move the Minions about like a wave.

Of course, Overlord Dark Legend will make full use of the Wii remote to further enhance the experience. According to Codemasters, the Wii remote enables “unprecedented control over the minions.” Using the controller, gamers can pluck a minion from the horde, hold him by the neck and shake him around, “throttled to imbue him with some Overlordly power and turn him into a manic minion missile.” Now charged with an explosive body, the in devilish critter can be guided into enemies with “hilarious, if rather fatal, consequences.”

There’s much more talk over at the IGN link so check it out if you’re interested.

de Blob French Gameplay Trailer

My one class in French I in high school wasn’t enough for me to be able to understand this spot for de Blob, but it is cool to see some of the game.
